West Bengal electricity Calculation:

In West Bengal state has two electricity supply sector such as West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) and Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation or CESC. Both companies are applying different tariff rates with different slaps. In that, CESE is the flagship company and the price per unit is higher than the WBSEDCL.

West Bengal Electricity Board has released the latest tariff order for benefiting the domestic and commercial consumer and they have reduced their rate. Let us see the latest tariff order of WBSEDCL.

WBSEDCL Per unit rate for LT Domestic Rural consumer 2023-2024:

According to that the consumer shall pay ₹5 for the consumption of 0-102 units, for next 80 units between 102-180, the per unit charges will be ₹6.24, for consumption between 181-300 unit the charges will be ₹ 6.89 per unit like that for 301-600 unit the charges for ₹ 7.44, for 601-900 units the ₹ 7.43 and Above 900 units (remaining all) the per unit charges will be ₹9.22/-

Note that the tariff works based on the slap basis which means when your consumption is more than the first slab, and then the rate of the first slap will be multiplied with the first slab units and the same will be added with the next slap.

For example, if your consumption is 105 unit means, the first slap rate of 0 to 102 units’ price of 5 and for the remaining units, the price is 6.24/-

WBSEDCL Per unit rate for LT Domestic Urban consumer:

Urban consumer shall pay for the consumption between 0-102 units, it will be ₹ 5.03 and it is ₹ 0.03 more than rural tariff. For 102-180 units, the per unit charges is ₹ 6.33/-,  for 181-300, ₹ 7.12, for 301-600 unit ₹ 7.52/-, for 601-900 units for ₹ 7.69/- for the above 900 units the cost will be 9.22 /-.

Commercial rural consumer:

For commercial consumer shall be chargeable 0 to 180 units, it will be ₹ 5.75, 181 to 300 the commercial per unit charges will be ₹7.5, for 301 to 450 the per unit charges will be ₹8.2, for 451 to 900 units the charges will be 8.51 for above 900 units the consumer has to pay ₹ 9.02.

HT tariff:

HT domestic consumer shall pay different per unit charges for the different season such as for summer season the cost is ₹7.33, for monsoon ₹7.31 and for winter it will be ₹ 7.29/-

In Addition with that, the consumer shall pay fuels charges as 0.29 paise per unit, fixed charges as mentioned in table, duty 10% of your energy bill and meter rent.

Note: We have not taken the entire category tariff rate. We have just taken the domestic and commercial unit rate in LT and HT (11kV, 33kV and 132kV).

WBSEDCL Bill Calculation:

Let us consider you (Rural) have used 450 units, calculate the total electricity bill as per WBSEDCL tariff rate for the year of 2023-2024.

Solution:

Here for first 102 units you have to pay ₹ 510 (102 x 5.00), for next 78 units you have to pay ₹ 486.72 (6.24 x 78), for next 120 units you have to pay ₹ 826.8, for next 300 unit your bill amount is ₹ 2232/ -(7.44 x 300), for the next 300 units your bill amount is ₹ 2229/- (300 x 7.43) and for the next 550 unit you have to pay ₹ 5071/- (550 x 9.22).

In Addition with that, the consumer shall pay MVCA charges, Duty, Fixed charges (Month*Connected Load*Rate per KW), and meter rent.

Also additionally, the consumer has to pay ₹ 30 per kW per month as fixed charges and the consumer shall pay 0.29 paisa per unit as variable charges (MVCA), 15 per month as meter rent and 10% as government duty.

Hence finally your bill amount is ₹ 13136.57/-

West Bengal Electricity Tariff Rate – Rural 2022 to 2023:

WBSEDCL has six tariff slaps such as, for the consumption of 1-102 unit, the consumer has to pay ₹ 5.49 per unit, for 103-180 units, the per unit charge will be ₹ 6.09/-, for 181-300 units the per unit charge will be  ₹ 6.96/-, for 301-600 unit, the per unit cost will be ₹ 7.46/-, for 601-900 unit, the per unit cost will be ₹ 7.55 /- and 901 unit will be charges ₹ 9.22 per unit.

Commercial consumer shall pay ₹6.4 for the first 18 units, 7.6 for the next 120 units, 8.25 for the next 150 units, 8.68 for the next 450 units and 9.17 for the remaining units.

In additional to that, the commercial consumer shall pay 30 per kW per Month as demand charges and all duty, meter rent and variable charges are as applicable.
