Volts to kilowatts Conversion Calculator V to kW

Volts to kilowatts Conversion calculator:

Select current type:
Enter voltage in volts: V
Enter current in amps: A

Power result in kilowatts: kW

For calculating volts to kilowatts we need to enter three parameters such as current, voltage and power factor. After that press calculates button, you see kW results. There is a reset button used to clear all values.

Using our calculator, you can find the kW rating DC power, single-phase power and three-phase power.

DC Volts to kW Calculation formula:

In DC, KiloWatt is a multiplication of current and voltage divided by 1000. Let us assume

I(A) = DC current in Amps

V(V) = DC voltage in volts

P(kW) = Power in kilo Watts.

Hence the formula can be written as below

P(kW) = V(V) * I(A) / 1000

DC power kW = volts * Amps / 1000

Let us take a DC motor is running on 400 Volts input supply and the current flow is 10 Amps, calculate the power in kiloWatts (kW)

Apply our formula,

P(kW) = 400 * 10 / 1000

Power in kilo-Watt = 4 kW

Single-phase volts to kiloWatts formula:

For AC circuit, the kW is called as real power. It is equal to multiplication of current, voltage and power factor divided by 1000. The formula can be written as

I(A) = AC current in Amps

V(V) = AC voltage in volts

P(kW) = AC Power in kilo Watts.

Pf = power factor

Therefore,

P(kW) = V(V) * I(A) * pf / 1000

kW = Volts * Amps * pf / 1000

AC power = voltage * current * power factor / 1000

Three phase volts to kilowatt formula:

Three phase AC power in kilo watt can be calculated by multiplying root 3 with current, voltage and power factor divided by 1000. The below formula,

P(kW) = √3 * PF * I(A) * VL-L(V) / 1000

             = 1.732 × pf × I(A) × VL-L(V) / 1000

Kilo-Watt = 1.732 * pf * Amps * Volts / 1000

While considering Line to neutral voltage the formula can be written as

P(kW) = 3 × pf × I(A) × VL-L(V) / 1000

Example:

A three-phase motor is running by the input line to line voltage of 415V, current 10 Amps and power factor is 0.90, calculate the power in kiloWatts.

Use our above formula,

P(kW = 1.732 * 0.9 * 10 * 415 / 1000

Kilo-watt = 6.46902 kW
