Increase in Potential Energy Calculator:

Enter the values of mass m(kg) , Acceleration of gravity g(m/s2), Initial height H1(m) & Final height H2(m) to determine the value of Increase in Potential Energy dPE(J) .

Enter Mass: kg
Enter Initial Height : m
Enter Final Height: m

Result – Increase in Potential Energy: J

Increase in Potential Energy Formula:

The Increase in Potential Energy  dPE(J)  In Joules  is equal to the Mass m(kg)  in kilogram and multiply to the Acceleration of  gravity g(9.81 m/s2)  in meter per second square and again multiply the Final Height H2(m) in meter and is subtraction by the Initial Height H2(m) in meter.

The formula of Increase In potential Energy can be written as,

dPE(J) = m(kg) ∗ g(m/s2) ∗ ( H2(m) – H1(m) )

Here,

dPE(J) = Increase in Potential Energy in Joules

m(kg) = mass in kilogram

g(m/s2) = Acceleration of gravity in 9.81 meter per second square

Increase in Potential Energy Calculation:

1) Calculate the Increase in Potential Energy and given for the mass =3kg, gravity = 9.81 m/s2 , Initial height H1 = 20m, and Final height H2 = 30m.

Answer

dPE = m ∗ g ∗ ( H2 − H1 )

dPE = 3 * 9.81 * ( 30 – 20 )

dPE = 294.3 Joules.

2) Calculate the mass and given for the Increase in Potential Energy = 294.3 Joules, gravity = 9.81 m/s2 ,Initial height H1 = 20m,and Final height H2 = 30m.

Answer

dPE = m ∗ g ∗ ( H2 − H1 )

294.3 = m * 9.81 * (30 – 20)

m = 3kg.
