# Speed Distance Time Formula, Calculator, Calculation, Example

### Speed Distance Time Calculator:

To use the speed, distance & time calculator above, or do such math yourself, you need to know two of three measurements:

Speed, distance, time. You must convert the measurements to the same time and distance units,

E.g. Miles, Kilometers, Meters, Yards, Feet and Hours, Minutes or Seconds. For example, if you are in mph (miles per hour), the time should also be in hours. If you have distance in kilometers, speed should also be in km/h (kilometers per hour).

The speed calculator will display additional units where appropriate.

Calculate speed, distance, or time using the formula d = st, where distance equals speed times time. The Speed Distance Time Calculator can solve for an unknown STD value given two known values.

### Speed Distance Time Formula:

Speed distance time formula is distance D(m) in meter is equal to the speed s(mph) in miles per hours and multiply the time t(hr) in hours.Hence the speed distance time formula can be written as

D(m) = s(mph)* t(hr)

### Derivation:

Distance = speed * time

D = s* t

Rate and speed are similar since they both represent some distance per unit time like miles per hour or kilometers per hour.If rate r is the same as speed s, r=s=d/t.You can use the equivalent formula d=r*t

Which means distance equals rate times time.

Distance = rate * time

To solve for speed or rate use the formula for speed s =d /t which means speed equals distance divided by time

Speed = distance /time

To solve for time use the formula for time t = d/s which means time equals distance divied by speed

Time = distance / speed

### Example:1

Calculate the distance 56m and time 4hr.Find the speed value?

Distance =56m

Time =4hr

By using formula

Speed = distance / time

Speed = 56 /4

Speed =0.0056992 miles per hour

### Example:2

Calculate the speed 98 miles per hours and time 6 hr.Find the distance value?

Speed = 98 mi/h(mph)

Time =6 hr
